2021 COVID Guidelines
We as a league are committed to making this Baseball Season as enjoyable for all of the players as best we can, while making it the safest we can. We are always open to anyone who may be able to volunteer in some capacity to help. Here are our COVID Guidelines for the 2021 Season:
·         All players will be asked to stay either near or in the dugout during game-play and must maintain social distancing. Players are to refrain from going into the spectator area during game-play.
·         Players are not required to wear masks during the game. Coaches and umpires will be required to wear face coverings. Umpires will be behind the pitcher on the field, not behind the catcher.
·         The Candy Stand will be open and all Volunteer workers will be required to wear face coverings.
·         There is to be no food in the dugout and players must bring their own drinks. There is to be no sunflower seeds, gum chewing, or spitting at any time while at our diamonds.
·         There will be hand sanitizers set up at various areas throughout the fields for players and fans to use.
·         There should be no more than 2 spectators per player. To watch the games, fans are to fill in areas around the diamonds. Families may sit together; but other spectators must observe a distance of at least six feet to the nearest fan. If spectators cannot observe a distance of six feet, they are encouraged to wear a facial covering.
·         When there is the need to share equipment (batting helmets, bats, catcher’s gear, pitcher’s face shields, etc) each diamond – or each team – the shared equipment will be sanitized prior to the next use.
·         At most there will be ONE coach from each team and the Umpires for the pregame meeting at home plate. NO players are to be present for that.  There will be no postgame handshake line – instead, similar to the LLWS – each team will tip their cap to the other in appreciation of the effort given.
·         Signage will be posted to remind personnel and patrons/players/spectators to adhere to proper hygiene, social distancing rules, appropriate use of PPE, and cleaning and sanitizing protocols.
·         Please note that this is obviously a fluid situation – and these rules can be modified at any point due to directives from various regulatory bodies.
Thank you,
Tonawanda American Little League Board of Directors
